Ingredients (Makes One Loaf)

500g Matthews All Purpose White Flour

7g instant yeast (1 sachet)

10g salt

300–320ml warm water

1 tbsp sugar (optional, for a slightly sweeter crust)

1 tbsp olive oil (optional, for softer texture)
Instructions
1. Activate Yeast
Mix warm water with sugar and yeast in a bowl.
Leave for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
2. Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large bowl, whisk Matthews All Purpose White Flour and salt.
3. Combine Dough
Pour yeast mixture and olive oil into the flour.
Mix until a soft dough forms.
4. Knead the Dough
Turn onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
5. First Rise
Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1–1.5 hours until doubled.
6. Shape the Loaf
Punch down dough, shape into a loaf, and place on a tray or in a loaf tin.
7. Second Rise
Cover and rest for 30–45 minutes.
8. Bake
Preheat oven to 220°C (430°F).
Bake for 25–30 minutes until golden.
Cool before slicing.
